Never Forgetting Ben’s Great Life Will, Much Like His Language, Be –EEZY

In life, there are very few people who live so fully, so richly, and so generously. Ben Garcia was definitely one of them. He was full of life, full of fun, full of friends, and full of love.

Ben was the master of making his own language. Everything was “-eezy”. “Forsheezy” for “for sure” and “Sue Jeezy” for me. But maybe it also meant “- easy”. Ben made everything “easy.” It was so “easy” for him to make people laugh, so “easy” for him to make new friends, “easy” for him to turn any situation into a wonderful time.

I know it’s not an easy time for all of us to deal with the fact that he is gone. Perhaps the gods saw how happy ben made everyone on Earth and wanted him for themselves. Perhaps.

However, there is one thing that comes easy for me during this time, and it is this. It is easy for me to thank Mr. & Mrs. Garcia for having such a wonderful son. It is easy for me to say that I am honored that Ben was my friend. It is so easy for me to say, “I love you, Ben. Thank you for coming into my life, making it that much fuller and brighter. I will never forget you.

*I met Ben my first year at Whittier College. I had Oral Communications class with him and Garret. My first memory of Ben: Against our will, he gave up his seat in Missy’s car so that my friend and I could get a ride up the steep campus hill while he and Garret awaked all the way up. From that day and beyond…Thanks Ben.
